1974 Pontiac Firebird

We had this beauty of an American classic car in a while ago for some work on the windscreen and lower doors. The owner wanted to restore as much of the car himself but felt these areas were a little out of his reach so we were happy to step in and help him. He was really happy with the outcome and we like to think he has managed to get it all finished now and is on the road enjoying this big beast.

One of the doors on the Pontiac before we took it back to bare metal and repaired it.

A close up of one of the damaged areas on the door once we took it back to bare metal.

Repairs in progress, using specialist magnets to hold the metal in place while we line up so we can tack weld in place.

The door repairs fully welded in place, prior to grinding them down.

Welds all ground down and ready to go in primer.

The car door all primed and back on the car with alignment corrected.

The Firebird had some corrosion around the windscreen area when it came into us.

After the windscreen was repaired around the top.

The repairs around the scuttle area almost complete.

The repairs all completed and put into primer to protect the bare metal while the customer finishes the rest of the work.

Our repairs complete, ready to go back to the customer for them to carry out the rest of the restoration themselves. It is a big task but we are sure they did work they can be proud of and hopefully are now enjoying the car, back on the road.

Our repairs complete, ready to go back to the customer for them to carry out the rest of the restoration themselves. We love classic cars, but there is something about American classics that make it that little harder to say goodbye to them once our work is done.
